According to UNICEF (United Nations Fund for Children), child labor is defined as anyform of labor under 12 years of age, in any economic activities; any work between 12 and 14 years other than light work; all the type of work under 18 framed by the ILO in the "worst forms of child labor."
For purposes of field research, UNICEF defines child labor as an indicator of the percentage of children 5-15 years involved in child labor. The definition of UNICEF, for research purposes, is under the following classification:
Working children aged 5 to 11 years: work performed during the week preceding the survey for at least one hour of economic activity or domestic servant of 28 hours /housework that week;
Work for youth 12 to 14 years by at least 14 hours of economic activity or 42 hours ofeconomic activity and domestic work combined that week.
